The salary scale for Professional Support 4 is based on twelve steps that range from $65,772.05 - $91,950.66. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $78,960.43 annually

Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

Reporting to the Manager, Libraries and Learning Commons, you will be accountable for the development, administration, maintenance and evaluation of electronic services and resources in a multi-campus college library system. Your responsibilities will include ensuring effective and easy access to the library's electronic resources and services; website design and development, Libguides technical support, maintenance and development; responsiveness to the Novanet library consortium requirements; and ensuring that library services remain relevant to users in the face of rapidly changing technology. You will be the lead for the ongoing review and development of electronic resources and service including researching, recommending, planning and implementing initiatives as well as developing policies and procedures that meet NSCC Libraries standards and consortia requirements. You will lead and participate in working groups, committees and projects to advance Libraries and Learning Commons services. You will work collaboratively with the central Libraries and Learning Commons team, campuses, other College departments and consortia partners. You will provide training, guidance and support to library staff at 13 campus libraries; design and deliver education sessions and materials to students, faculty and staff online and in-person; and provide traditional and virtual reference services.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA accredited program
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of recent and related occupational experience in the administration and maintenance of library services platforms, electronic resources, libguides and other web based technologies.
  • You have demonstrated proficiency working in an electronic environment including library services platforms, discovery layers, electronic resources, libguides, and web editing.
  • You have strong demonstrated computer literacy skills including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • Ideally you have experience with Novanet and the Alma library services platform.
  • Ideally you have experience with Learning Management Systems, Brightspace is an asset.
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.
  • You have experience supporting/providing service to students and faculty

As a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete a two-year (part-time) adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period. Term full-time Professional Support employees whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
