For the 2021-22 Academic Year, based on public health guidelines, NSCC plans to return to more in-person learning, supports and services. You may be required to work on campus, remotely or a combination of both as the Academic Year begins and progresses. This will be clarified further upon hire.

What you will be doing…

The Manager, Administrative Services (MAS) is accountable for the management of the financial and administrative functions of the Burridge and Shelburne campuses and the Digby Site. Working in close cooperation with the Principal and other Campus Managers, the MAS is responsible for corporate functions including: budgeting, forecasting, financial advising, policy stewardship, internal controls, procurement, revenue and expenditure control, year-end accounting, and general administration. The MAS is also responsible for student financial processes and records (student loans, student account collections and reconciliation, reporting, etc…) and campus ancillary services (bookstore and cafeteria). The Manager, Administrative Services will ensure that all policies, regulations, standards, and procedures are consistent with those established for the Nova Scotia Community College. The MAS works closely with the Manager of Student Services to support a collaborative front office team. The MAS is a key member of the campus regional management team.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in Business with an Accounting designation.
  • You have a minimum of five years of recent and progressive occupational experience in administration and/or finance with expertise in financial reporting and operations management.
  • Your occupational experience includes supervising, managing or leading a team. You have specific experience in the direct supervision and performance management of staff.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook andl Excel. As well as proficiency in using computerized accounting and other business software.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • Demonstrable proficiency as an end user in software programs such as PeopleSoft, Cognos, and SharePoint would be considered an asset.
