Salary range: $46,160.20 to $54,198.49 annually
For the 2021-22 Academic Year, based on public health guidelines, NSCC plans to return to more in-person learning, supports and services. You may be required to work on campus, remotely or a combination of both as the Academic Year begins and progresses. This will be clarified further upon hire.

What you will be doing…

You will be accountable for the provision of specialized skills in the acquiring, supporting, maintenance and purchasing of equipment for the Trades and Transportation departments at the campus.

Under the direction of the Trades & Technology Academic Chair, you will be responsible to troubleshoot, repair and install equipment and accessories located in the laboratories and shops. To maintain equipment and assist in maintaining laboratories/shops to a high standard of hygiene and safety following the 5S+S standard. Developing and maintaining preventative maintenance procedures and records for equipment will be key in this position. The incumbent will assist faculty with the supervision of students working in the laboratories and shops as required.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary certificate in Industrial Machining, Millright or other related trade. Journeyperson certificate in a related field would be considered and asset. Training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of five years of recent and related occupational experience in Industrial Mechanic and/or Equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Occupational experience that includes welding would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail and Megamation
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology, and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset
  • A valid Drivers License and valid Fork Lift Operator certificate would be considered assets.
