For the 2021-22 Academic Year, based on public health guidelines, NSCC plans to return to more in-person learning, supports and services. You may be required to work on campus, remotely or a combination of both as the Academic Year begins and progresses. This will be clarified further upon hire.

Responsibilities

As a member of the Student Services team, under the direction of the Manager, Student Services, you will assist with the provision of Learning Support Services, primarily Testing Services and Educational Technology Services. You will work with the Manager of Student Services to create schedules for testing services and casual proctors and oversee Test Centre operations. This includes administering and invigilating testing, communicating with our testing partners, ensuring adherence to all required testing protocols for various types of tests, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues. You will also be a part of a provincial team under the functional guidance of the Director, Libraries and Learning Commons. You will collaborate with your Student Services team members to introduce and support the use of educational and assistive technology, create a supportive learning environment in testing, library, and learning areas, collect and record service-delivery data, provide customer service, and support campus-wide social media, events, activities, and initiatives. As this is a 60% position the exact working hours can be discussed, but typically may be all morning, or all afternoons, or specific days of the week. There will be an evening shift.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary diploma in an area related to Adult Education, Educational Technology, Administrative and Business Services or Social Services.
  • You have a minimum of two years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience.
  • Occupational experience that includes working in an adult educational environment would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-maill, Office 365 and Assistive Technology. Experience with PeopleSoft, Brightspace and EnCampus, and Pearson Vue would be an asset.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience supporting/providing service to all students including students with disabilities would be considered an asset
