Responsibilities

As the Academic Chair for the School of Business and Creative Industries for eCampus and Pictou Campus, you will lead the delivery of NSCC's Business programs at the Campuses ensuring the highest standard of quality and consistency in programing while supporting student success. Your strategic and operational leadership is key to ensuring the objectives of programs offered by NSCC are met through efficient and effective management of all fiscal and human resources, while endorsing the application of adult education principles and portfolio learning, within a safe work environment, and portfolio learning in a learning-centered college.

You will be a key member of both Campuses and School teams. Campuses and Schools share accountability for ensuring a quality-learning environment and a cohesive campus team. You will use your established relationships in Business and related sectors regionally and locally to inform programming and opportunities for students.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline. A Graduate Degree would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and progressive occupational experience in a field related to the School of Business.
  • You have a minimum of five years in a formal supervisory, management or leadership role. Experience in your field includes formal teaching at a post-secondary level.
  • Occupational experience that includes experience working with online delivery at a post-secondary institute would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with proven ability to engage, inspire and motivate. Coaching, mentoring and ensuring appropriate development of team members in the achievement of excellence.
  • Previous experience working within a quality-driven program and service delivery model.
  • Experience managing physical, financial and human resources in order to ensure effective service delivery.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-maill and MS Teams.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.
