What you will be doing…

The Respectful Communities Consultant is a program and project manager, a subject matter expert, and a strategic partner who promotes a culture of safety, security and support that respects the dignity of all members of the college community.

The Consultant understands conflict as encompassing interpersonal, intergroup and intragroup conflicts, as well as behaviours or conduct that is in conflict with our organizational values, polices, and codes.

The Consultant is an advisor and subject matter expert on conflict and conduct issues in support of a safe, respectful and inclusive work and learning environment.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Post-secondary education (Master's degree is an asset) in a related discipline (i.e. law, education, human resources, gender studies, social sciences, social work, etc.) or equivalent. Professional mediation or alternate dispute resolution certification or the ability to obtain certification within first six months of employment.
  • You have a minimum of five years of recent and related occupational experience in the areas of complaint resolution, including sexual violence complaints. Alternative dispute resolution or restorative practice experience is considered as asset.
  • Occupational experience that includes experience administering student behavioural policies in a post-secondary setting is an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, including familiarity with databases and business intelligence.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation
