What you'll do

Responsibilities

As the Manager, Facilities Planning and Projects, you will play a key role in the Facilities Management Department and the College focusing on facilities planning, space management, furniture management, facilities design and construction, and project and Tender management. You will be responsible for development of plans/programs for the Infrastructure Renewal/Maintenance Program, Building and Property Information Management Systems, Space Classification Systems and VFA (Capital planning system), and the required reporting of such to government departments. You will be instrumental in the development and execution of facilities strategies and plans.

The Manager, Facilities Planning and Projects will play a leadership role in the development of long range plans and programs to address deferred maintenance, space management, capital projects, site development and master plans to meet the College's strategic needs. You will manage facilities projects from initial conception through schematic design, design development, tendering, contract negotiation, construction administration and close-out processes. This position will actively engage stakeholders at all levels including executive, managers, consultants, and contractors through individual contact, group meetings and committees. In this position, you will report to the Director, Facilities and Engineering.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

* The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary degree and/or diploma in Facilities Management or Building Sciences such as:

o Architectural or Engineering

o BOMA/BES/IFMA

o Power Engineering/3rd Class

* AutoCAD Certified Professional certification is required.

* A Certificate in Project Management is required.

* You have a minimum of five years of recent and related occupational experience in a facilities management role, which includes contract and tender management, project management and facility administration and supervision experience

* You have specific experience in Occupational Health & Safety and Construction Management

* You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and E-mail. You have experience using Computer maintenance management systems, AutoCAD and capital planning systems.

* You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience

* You have demonstrated strength in supervising, managing and leading a team with a proven record of inspiring and building capacity within a team

* Travel between campuses as required
