We operate hospitals, health centres and collaborative community-based programs across the province.The Nova Scotia Health Authority is currently recruiting Psychiatrists in various locatins within the province. Working within team, psychiatrists may be based out of Sydney, Antigonish, New Glasgow, Truro, Kentville or Yarmouth. We have opportunities for General Psychiatrists, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists and Adult Psychiatrists.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Working with cohesive teams with diverse backgrounds, candidates may expect to work with multidisciplinary teams providing outpatient mental health and other services include: withdrawal/detox care, seniors’ mental health, community outreach teams, clozapine and depot clinics, consult service for adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, consultation with medical units and emergency department and full Child and Adolescent clinical service.Teams may consist of social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, and psychologists.Departments may provide 24/7 on-call coverage to the inpatient mental health units and emergency department, including in-house consultation - depending on the opportunity.

Qualifications

Candidates must be certified or be eligible for certification by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada/Canadian College of Family Physicians and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
