Halifax Water is hiring for the job of Project Engineer (Structures and Special Projects). This is a regular opportunity in the Strategic Projects Section of the Engineering and Capital Infrastructure Department and has full time hours.

What the Strategic Project Team does:

  • Executes Halifax Water's larger or more complex capital projects and programs (exceeding $25M or multiple construction season duration).
  • Oversees design, construction, and commissioning services for large building, plant and network projects.
  • Provides leadership in Halifax Water by delivering services that protect public health and the environment through the delivery of capital projects.

Working in Structures and Special Projects, you will:

  • Be responsible for the provision of professional engineering and construction project management services to deliver key and unique capital infrastructure projects from conceptualization through to implementation and warranty phases of the project.
  • Provide basic to heavy civil construction expertise to the Strategic Projects group for identified projects that support Halifax Water's long-term infrastructure plans as indicated in the Integrated Resource Plan.

To do this job, you need:

  • A post-secondary education in Engineering (civil, municipal, process or environmental).
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • Five years of progressively responsible related experience in an engineering field; construction/construction management and project management experience.
  • Ideally be a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or a Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • A valid NS driver's license.
