Financial Services
The Finance team is a group of approximately 65 people who lead, direct, and develop strategic and operational planning for the university's financial services, reporting, investing, financing, procurement, payroll, research financial management and budgeting administration. You will be part of a motivated team of professionals who are always striving to provide proactive analysis and solutions; and deliver support services that enable successful achievement of the university's goals and objectives.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:00 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Salary Range: $69,660 - $94,939 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting & Reporting Services. This position is required to have an accounting designation and to have a demonstrated ability to provide well-researched, balanced, and supported information and advice.
FINANCIAL REPORTING
- Guide and support the university community in the management of non-research restricted funds. This includes monitoring, reconciling and reporting on external funding agreements.
- Liaise with stakeholders and business partners on issues pertaining to restricted funds and accounting services.
- Support the development and establishment of the non-research restricted portfolio. This will include identifying best practices, opportunities, and developing recommendations to support the growth of non-research restricted funds.
- Interpret, analyze, and consolidate financial data from various sources into financial reports to support unit leaders in decision making.
INTERNAL CONTROL, POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Support and provide input on the development and implementation of internal controls, financial policies, and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and the consistent application of related procedures.
- Participate, as required, on implementation teams to enhance integration of the Colleague Financial system.
- Provide training as required on financial systems, processes, and policies.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline with a Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (CPA)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Experience providing financial analysis and policy interpretation.

- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fund accounting experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated business skills with an emphasis on business analysis, process review and analytical skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to co-ordinate multiple projects.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations preferred).
- Advanced Excel user
