UNB EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTRE

The UNB Early Childhood Centre has a long history of extensive research and curriculum development in early education including early literacies, family literacies, early learning and childcare, and kindergarten curricula. Research projects undertaken by the Centre are typically community-based and participatory. The centre partners with EECD, NBCC, NB Literacy Coalition, Born to Read, Talk with Me, and early learning and childcare sites provincially, nationally, and internationally. This centre serves as a demonstration site for the UNB/STU /NBCC education program and UNB Nursing Program.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | 9-Month Term | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 11:30 am - 5:30 pm | 30 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Must complete a Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have a Current First Aid Certificate
  • Must have a Food Services Certificate.

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with experience & education.

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to Teaching Director, the Early Childhood Educator will provide sustainability for the centre and support the professional and research mandates of the Early Childhood Centre and the Faculty of Education.

  • Prepare learning and caring environments indoors and out, using the provisions and practices of the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care.
  • Collaborate with other early childhood educators, families, university students, university professors, and community members to facilitate a meaningful curriculum.
  • Engage in reflective practice through planning and delivering professional learning and co-authoring narrative documents, with children and educator's learning.
  • Maintain accurate and consistent daily records for children's learning and Early Learning and Childcare Regulations.
  • Maintain a tidy facility including classrooms and hallway.
  • Plan and maintain documentation during non-contact hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary education in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Experience implementing the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Childcare.
