STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
The Strategic Communications & Marketing Office (SCM) plays a significant role in supporting the university's strategic vision, direction and mission. It is a bi-campus team responsible for advancing and elevating UNB's reputation through insight-focused and performance-driven brand leadership, communications, marketing, public relations, creative services, media relations and issues management.

Salary Range: $69,660 - $94,939 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, the Content and Engagement Strategist is part of the President's Office (PO) portfolio and plays a crucial and significant role in supporting the university's strategic vision, direction and mission.

  • Develop key messages and speaking points for specific strategic items and audiences.
  • Reinforce key messages through a variety of activities.
  • Develop articles such as op-eds in support of the President's vision.
  • Manage and develop the President's website.
  • Fact-check, interview sources and analyze information prior to publication.
  • Work closely with team leads to develop and generate ideas, adapt and rework content for various forms of collateral.
  • Write and prepare speeches, media information packages, news releases, briefing notes, president's weekly newsletter, background reports and other materials for social media and traditional media strategies.
  • Conduct communications research, including reviewing policies, other universities, reports, background information and gathering information from other relevant sources.
  • Develop communications plans and manage the delivery of multiple communications projects and initiatives through planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation.
  • Develop and manage a proactive communications plan and calendar for the President in support of the university's strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with team members to manage the production of collateral required by the President.
  • Provide recommendations, guidance and advice to senior management and staff regarding content, style, and presentation of printed materials, as it relates to the president, voice or overall messaging.
  • Recommend and develop communications policies, standards and processes regarding the design, development and publication of communications products and materials.
  • Respond to written inquiries received from the public, the media, internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Support SCM team members with deliverables related to the President.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • University degree, preferably in communications, public relations or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of direct experience in advising and supporting executive leaders in communications.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Storyteller and superior writer with excellent editorial, proofreading and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience in speech writing, copy editing and preparing presentation materials.
  • Experience in reviewing, editing, fact-checking and proofreading materials according to CP style guidelines.
  • Excellent time-management, interpersonal, multi-tasking and team-building skills.
  • Able to act with diplomacy, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, execute and measure strategic communications plans.
  • Knowledge of the post-secondary education sector is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines and switch between tasks readily.
  • Able to deliver high quality results under pressure, tight deadlines and often evolving priorities.
