FACULTY OF LAW
The Faculty of Law offers a professional, post-secondary academic programming that qualifies graduates for admission to qualify for the practice of law in all Canadian jurisdictions. The Faculty has 20 full-time professors, three librarians and 18+ administrative staff. The Faculty also comprises the Law Library, which serves faculty and students, the legal profession, and the broader UNB community.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required during certain times of year, such as during the final examination periods.
Salary Range: $76,626 - $104,443 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Law, the Manager, Academic Affairs and Student Services, is responsible for the implementation of academic policies and procedures and the provision of student services. The person in this role must be familiar with academic decision-making and governance, as well as an ability to interpret and apply regulations. The position also involves primary and direct supervision of 5 full-time administrative staff. The position includes important decision-making responsibilities related to the core academic function of the Faculty (including in areas such as examinations, internships, exchanges, student conduct and complaints, accommodations, etc.).
- Manage the Academic Affairs and Student Services portfolio of the Faculty, including direct supervision of five employees.
- Ensure the Faculty has appropriate policies and procedures for maintaining student records.
- Ensure all faculty and staff have access to appropriate and timely administrative and technical support.
- Assist in the handling of complaints from students and student conduct issues.
- Serve as the Faculty's Registrar.
- Supervise the administration of exams, including recruiting, hiring, & scheduling invigilators, etc.
- Act as the main contact point for academic accommodations in the Faculty of Law collaborating with the Student Accessibility Centre.
- Ensure that students have access to effective support to overcome barriers to their legal education.
- Handle requests to hire students to support the academic program.
- Be the main contact point for Right to Information requests.
- Coordinate graduation and advancement issues, including determining eligibility to graduate and to write special examinations.
- Liaise with UNB Global Learning and Engagements regarding exchange programs.
- Ensure that students are aware of the Faculty's curriculum requirements and academic regulations.
- Manage degree auditing processes and decisions.
- Administer the Faculty's prizes, including determining the recipient, creating new prizes, and modifying/editing existing prizes.
- Assume the responsibilities of the Associate Dean when they are absent or unable to perform their duties.
- Collaborate strategically with other student services leaders university wide.
- Coordinate internships, including outreach and communication with internship partners.
- Other Duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A University Degree in Business Administration, Arts, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in management or a leadership position.
Additional Strengths
- A law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a Canadian law school is considered an asset.
- Experience in and knowledge of the Canadian university sector or public institutions, including their policies and processes, is considered an asset.
- Experience managing a department in a small or medium-sized organization with multiple employees and deliverables is considered an asset.
