Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager, Maintenance and Operations, the Trades and Maintenance Supervisor will:

  • Supervision: Supervise current compliment of thirty-five (35) fulltime staff, team leads, seasonal trades and summer staff.
  • Assign tasks and/or delegates responsibility
  • Monitor performance and provides day-to-day and periodic formal performance feedback.
  • Operations: Assign resources and establish priorities to deal with operations and planned maintenance of the specific areas.
  • Safety: Monitor and ensures all work performed by contractors is performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct and documents safety "Toolbox" meetings with staff. Follows up on any items raised in these meetings.
  • Administration: Provides reports, daily to the Manager regarding planned assignments, planned special projects, staffing, problem areas, determined concerns, resolutions, etc.
  • Quality Control: Inspects all campus buildings to ensure tasks are being completed in a timely manner.
  • Snow and Ice control with flexibility around weather events.
  • 80% field and inspection, 20% administration.

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Trades and Maintenance Supervisor you will have:

  • Building Trade School certificate with Journeyman status, CET or Power Engineering License.
  • 3 years' experience plus 3 years supervisory experience in a large complex with multiple systems and buildings.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of building systems and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of construction management.
  • Available to take emergency calls.
