Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education runs seven master's programs and a PhD program. The Faculty encourages critical inquiry, equity, social justice and participatory citizenship in education contexts. We support teaching, research, scholarship, creative activity and service that strengthen education and enrich community life.

WHAT WE OFFER

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $22.68 - $26.33 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

  • Reporting to the Associate Dean (Graduate Programs) and Dean of Education, the incumbent will provide administrative functions and contribute to the day-to-day activities within the graduate office in the Faculty of Education. The position involves active engagement with faculty members, contract academic instructors, and graduate students.
  • Act as the initial contact for the Graduate Programs Office for Faculty, Staff, Students, and the general public, through in-person interaction, telephone, and email.
  • Provide general counseling for MEd programs with prospective and current students.
  • Maintain official student files and databases including deferrals, withdrawals, progress reports, award/bursary requests, completion letters, graduation audits, and transfer credits.
  • Assist with processing graduate applications, including an updated spreadsheet of all applicants within the PhD program and 7 MEd programs.
  • Assist with communications for students and instructors, through updates to the graduate student and instructor handbooks, the graduate website, and through emails.
  • Assist with posting courses to the timetable for Fall, Winter, and Summer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary Education in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Previous experience in administration in a professional office setting.

Additional Strengths

  • Previous experience in an academic setting is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to multitask, and work at a rapid pace with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, make decisions, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic financial accounting knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the Educational Community is considered an asset.
