REDS Operations
The University of New Brunswick REDS are the non-academic unit within the Faculty of Kinesiology. Through athletics and recreation programming, they strive to be national leaders in wellness, sport, and recreation excellence. The REDS also lead many internal and external general events across various facilities in hopes of being engaged within our community.
WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time | Continuing | Fredericton | On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 40 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel is required (when athletic events are hosted off-site/in other cities).
Salary: $24.93 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Manager of Marketing & Special Events, the Facilities & Events Supervisor is responsible for the effective operation of REDS events, including the planning and supervision of these events in multiple facilities. This position will also provide support for all athletic sporting games and tournaments.
- Secure and meet with potential clients.
- Assist clients in completing the online booking form.
- Collect all necessary information using the REDS Checklist Form.
- Ensure all requirements listed on the event checklist are noted and subsequently completed.
- Book the facilities, once confirmed, add booking to the Calendar of Events on TEAMS.
- Meet with Facility Staff to discuss event logistics.
- Prepare a contract and subsequent invoice.
- Send invoices to REDS Financial staff for processing.
- Assist in the development of facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure staff and facility users are following all policies and are aware of risk management and emergency response procedures.
- Liaise with coaches, facilities users, and service providers.
- Provide high-quality customer service to all facility users.
- Supervise REDS Games including troubleshooting the ticketing system and table staff equipment, venue support, etc.
- Hire, recruit, coordinate, schedule, train, and supervise part-time staff for athletic events at the Aitken Centre and Currie Center with support from other operations staff.
- Track inventory as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A University Degree in Kinesiology, Recreation Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a setting that requires interaction with a variety of stakeholders, exposure to inventory and supervision of staff and computerized systems.
Additional Strengths
- Experience working in game operations across a wide variety of sports at the university level is considered a strong asset.
- Current first aid certification or willingness to complete one in the first 30 days of employment.
- Ability to track and maintain inventory and control cash.
- Strong customer service techniques and the ability to manage day-to-day employee relations.
- Familiarity with the rules and procedures followed in a wide variety of sports at the university level.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to independently make decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with a genuine customer service orientation.
- Ability to maintain personable and courteous working relationships with REDS team members, UNB students, faculty and staff, and the general public.
