Salary: $25.29 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Residence Facilities Manager, the Residence Operations Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and supervision of Residence cleaning staff throughout the calendar year. The Residence Operations Coordinator will also complete custodial duties when the need arises.
- Oversee full-time, part-time, and student residence cleaning staff. Assign duties, prepare work schedules, manage staffing issues, prioritize cleaning projects, troubleshoot issues and evaluate staff. Manage and authorize student staff overtime and leave requests.
- Train all cleaning staff following residence standards.
- Oversee the transition from academic year to summer operations.
- Recommend the provision of occasional contract cleaning, as required.
- Manage schedules to ensure the department maximizes the housekeeping budget available for staffing expenses and supplies.
- Coordinate housekeeping crews to ensure the number of rooms required and the associated areas are ready to receive guests on schedule.
- Keep abreast of all conference business in the departmental conference management software.
- Maintain room status inventory and check upcoming events in the departmental conference management software.
- Collaborate with the Conference Services team to ensure spaces are readily available.
- Manage the pickup and drop off of linens by commercial laundry services and the distribution of clean linens throughout the residence system.
- Conduct pre-conference season space planning due to renovations, repairs, or other work. Maintain an inventory of cleaning equipment, supplies, and hotel linens to maximize housekeeping budget.
- Request supplier quotes and prepare purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of rooms, washrooms, corridors and other common areas to ensure building cleanliness meets standards set by UNB.
- Ensure proper maintenance of all housekeeping equipment and make arrangements for repairs and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment.
- Prepare and maintain digital records and reports related to various aspects of the job.
- Cleaning duties, as may be required, to maintain cleanliness. This includes Spring/Summer deep cleaning of buildings and overseeing stripping and waxing of floors.
- Other duties as required.
WHAT YOU BRING
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 5 years practical experience related to custodial work and at least three years of supervisory experience.
Additional Strengths
- Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Knowledge of the operation and care of cleaning equipment and the ability to demonstrate proper use and handling of equipment to cleaning staff.
- Experience managing a team of staff through motivation, coaching, and development.
- Committed to working as a team with all Residence members to achieve departmental goals in a positive, productive, and supportive manner.
- Demonstrated sound organizational, coordinating and strategic planning skills, particularly as these relate to the transition of University residence from Fall/Winter academic use to commercial business in the Spring/Summer months.
- Ability to anticipate customer needs, multitask, and change direction quickly based on ever-changing conference calendar.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office.
- Ability to function within a budget.
