YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director, the Research Consultant will focus on the development of the remote cloud data storage and access solution for NB-IRDT. The RC will be embedded within the ACENET team but work directly with NB-IRDT on system development.

  • Design and implement a secure computer network that connects on-site computing resources to a cloud environment hosted on the ACENET server network, though under the effective control of NB-IRDT.
  • Design and implement necessary firewalls and two-factor authentication for remote data access to the ACENET server network for approved projects and data sets.
  • Design systems to ensure and monitor compliance with privacy impact assessments, threat and risk assessments, policies, procedures, and agreements.
  • Provide support to NB-IRDT staff during the design, installation, and test phases.
  • Consult with team members, both new and experienced, in a timely manner to provide support and expertise in HPC, GPU, Cloud, with a particular emphasis on Digital Health related topics.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure the ACENET NB-IRDT analytical service is meeting their current and future needs.
  • Support the planning and execution of digital health projects.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions to address client needs.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge of current and emerging trends, policies, regulations, and standards in digital health.
  • Facilitate connections with subject experts within the region and throughout ACENET's national network.
  • Assist ACENET's executive team in developing and executing a regional strategy for growing and supporting the digital health community.
  • Write and maintain documentation.
  • Participate in relevant national committees, working groups, and research support activities.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, health informatics, or a similar discipline.
  • 3+ years experience working in a relevant field. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Strengths

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in relevant areas of Digital Health. We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in secure cloud computing, data science, health data standards, security and privacy.
  • Knowledge of Cloud systems including but not limited to AWS, Microsoft Azure and VMware is required.
  • Experience developing and implementing scientific gateways (virtual research environments) is considered an asset.
  • Experience in data analytics and/or Artificial Intelligence in health science.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, and the ability to translate scientific and technical terms into plain language.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • A strong client-focused work ethic.
