STUDENT AFFAIRS AND SERVICES
The primary purpose of Student Affairs & Services (SAS) is to support students in achieving their academic, personal, and life goals. In keeping with this, SAS develops and delivers a wide range of programs and services that enhance and contribute to the student experience and the learning environment. Individually and collectively, SAS Divisions contribute directly to the University's goal of transformative educational experiences, innovative programs, and commitment to experiential learning.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $46, 866 - $61, 079 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Senior Director of Health & Wellness, the Student Intervention Coordinator works within the Health & Wellness Division of SAS to identify and respond to students who need support and connects them with the appropriate services both on and off campus.
- Provide support to students at various levels of need, including students who are in distress or are in urgent situations.
- Attempt to contact the student and help them through immediate issues, connect them with and coordinate other supports as needed.
- Provide limited connectivity to supporters of the student, who may live in other parts of the world.
- Refer students to other campus services and continue to be a point of contact and support for the student.
- Extend knowledge and expertise to faculty and staff of the university who, themselves, have become involved in supporting a student in a difficult situation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to faculty and staff in how they can successfully manage their relationships with students while protecting the employees' emotional, psychological and physical well-being.
- Build trust and create a supportive relationship with students as well as with members of staff and faculty.
- Respond to needs independently, expertly and in the moment, without time to consider or consult.
- Plan and implement communication strategies, training programs and professional development activities for employees.
- Work closely with student support professionals in Residence, Counselling Services, Student Health, the International Student Advisor's Office, Security, and the academic units.
- Design and implement programs to promote the Student Intervention Team and it's support services among faculty and staff across campus so that appropriate referrals will be made.
- Work with campus partners to create and distribute information materials in relation to the service, approaches to supporting students and related issues.
- Plan and implement campus wide training and professional development programs such as Trauma Informed Practices, Supporting Students in Distress, and related issues.
- Create and manage a case management system to provide exceptional support to students, identify trends in challenges facing students and provide statistics as part of regular reports to senior administration and the community.
- Author an Annual Report.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation and re-evaluation of the effectiveness of the Student Intervention role and of UNB's overall structures to support students and make recommendations on how such services can be improved for the benefit of the students.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelors Degree in a related field, with preference for degrees in Education, Counselling or similar health-related fields.
- Three or more years' experience in Crisis Intervention, Student Support or related work.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
