INTEGRATED HEALTH INITIATIVE (PROMISE PARTNERSHIP)
The Promise Partnership, an outreach initiative of the Integrated Health Initiative, is dedicated to assisting children and youth in economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. In this program, UNB students act as mentors and tutors in nearby schools and community centres, concentrating on enhancing literacy, numeracy, and digital competencies for students from K-12. Through the Promise Partnership, UNB Saint John offers youth enrichment programs aimed at supporting academic success for local youth including the Discovery Program and Profs2Classes. The Discovery Program provides camps and after-school activities in a university setting, connecting local youth interests with academic disciplines to inspire higher education aspirations and improve accessibility for underrepresented groups. Profs2Classes coordinates visits by UNB faculty to area schools, fostering community engagement and academic collaboration.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Salary Range: $48,866 - $61,079 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Managing Director, Promise Partnership, the Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator will help the University of New Brunswick meet its objective of making a university education accessible to as many New Brunswickers as possible. This position will plan and deliver educational enrichment activities for youth in the community which aim to excite them about life-long learning including the Discovery Summer Camp Program, the Profs2Classes Program.
- Design, deliver and manage the summer Discovery educational enrichment program for area children and youth on the UNB Saint John campus during the summer, and guest lessons by Discovery program instructors in area schools in May and June.
- Oversee the curriculum for all 24 or more sessions in the summer program, the activities led by Discovery program instructors on school visits and supervising the work of the staff of Discovery program instructors (UNB students) and contracted subject matter specialists.
- Collaborate closely with and support the work of Promise Partnership tutors, mentors and curriculum developers.
- Hire, train, supervise and manage summer Discovery program instructors (UNB students) and subject area specialists.
- Manage the Profs2Classes program including outreach to area schools and to UNB faculty, developing a program of school visits by UNB faculty and coordinating delivery of the program.
- Manage the administrative aspects of the program including the program staff, the project budget and procurement of materials.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with area schools and Discovery Program instructors.
- Represent UNB to the public including the parents of the children registered in the program.
- Arrange meals and snacks for program participants with UNB catering services.
- Coordinate promotion of the program with UNB Marketing.
- Consult with external partners on the design and delivery of the program.
- Collect data, monitor program results and report to funding agency.
- Explore other opportunities for educational enrichment for area children and youth.
- Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director that will enhance the delivery of the program.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years managing and/or delivering educational programs for children and/or youth.
- 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Prior experience with educational program design, project planning and implementation, including managing a budget.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Additional Strengths
- Education degree preferred.
- Experience in designing and delivering experiential education programs is an asset.
- Organizational, time management and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage staff and work collaboratively with a diverse range of partners.
