The Procurement Branch at UNB plays a pivotal role in sourcing and acquiring goods and services for the entire organization. The branch negotiates contracts, and ensures compliance with procurement policies, legislation and trade agreements The Procurement Branch optimizes purchasing processes, ultimately supporting the organization's reaching its overall goals and objectives.

Salary Range: $48,160 - $60,208 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
The Senior Procurement Officer is a key member of the Procurement Services team, serving as one of two reporting to the Assistant Manager of Procurement Services. This role holds the responsibility of overseeing the procurement of international purchases, as well as domestic purchases between departments, and suppliers. The incumbent is tasked with acquiring the right products in the most cost-effective and timely manner, with expertise in assisting departments on duty and tax exemptions within established policies and procedures.
- Understand the provincial procurement legislation, national and international trade agreements as they relate to a publicly funded institution.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of procuring goods, services and construction, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and trade agreements.
- Act as a procurement consultant, advising departments on best practices and optimizing procurement processes.
- Prepare and issuing of tender documents when required and posting to our electronic bidding site.
- Provide expert guidance to departments on custom brokerage which includes duty and tax implications, ensuring adherence to all university policies.
- Receive, review, and process all internal requisitions.
- Utilize the University's online procurement system to produce accurate and compliant purchase orders.
- Maintain a current list of all University Contracts.
- Assisting the University community with the implementation and training of new procurement contracts when required.
- Provide day to day administrative support to the Procurement Services team, ensuring smooth operations and efficient procurement processes.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement
Additional Strengths
- Thorough understanding of duty and tax regulations related to procurement.
- Proficiency in using an ERP system and tendering system for procurement activities.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to provide leadership within a team environment.
- Professional certification in procurement is an asset.
