STUDENT AFFAIRS & SERVICES

The primary purpose of Student Affairs and Services (SAS) is to support students at UNBF in achieving their academic, personal and life goals. In keeping with this, Student Affairs and Services develops and delivers a wide range of programs and services that enhance and contribute to the student experience and the learning environment. Individually and collectively, Student Affairs and Services Divisions contribute directly to the University's strategic goals of an exceptional and transformative student experience and of financial resiliency and responsibility.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Senior Director, Residence, the Residence Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of UNBF residence facilities including residences, apartment building, dining halls and administrative buildings. The Residence Facilities Manager is the first point of contact for emergencies that affect the residence facilities and their operation. This position is also responsible for short-term (tactical and operational) planning and for providing input for strategic planning related to residence operations, maintenance and renewal.

  • Coordinate and supervise daily operations of facilities.
  • Respond to emergency situations; assess situation and coordinate appropriate response.
  • Maintain inventory of furnishings, equipment, and cleaning supplies and order replacements/stock to ensure adequate supplies of these items at all times.
  • Facilitate planning and implementation of capital renewal for all residences, apartments, dining halls, the Residence Administration Building and residence storage facility.
  • Collaborate with Facilities Management to develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for residence buildings.
  • Provide human resource management for direct reports and support for Operations Coordinator (e.g., hiring, scheduling, discipline, training, evaluation).
  • Develop appropriate policies and procedures for monitoring and tracking to support strategic decisions for capital renewal and ongoing operations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Student Affairs & Services Facilities, and Senior Leadership Teams to develop and implement related Student Affairs & Services strategic plans.
  • Prepare the budget for expenses related to ongoing operations and maintenance of residence facilities.
  • Liaise with Facilities Management to develop proposed list of capital projects each year.
  • Provide the Senior Director of Residence with statistical, budget and other operational related information and reports.
  • Provide expertise regarding operational issues, policies and procedures and interpretation of reports and data.
  • Develop strategies for dealing with operational issues, financial shortfalls and unforeseen expenditures.
  • Provide operational support for the administration of UNBF contracts for dining services, exclusive beverage agreement, vending and laundry.
  • Represent Student Affairs & Services on the UNB Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Chair Student Affairs & Services Health and Safety Committee.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary diploma in a related field.
  • 5 years of facility management experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Experience working in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Training or experience in human resources and budget management is considered an asset.
  • General knowledge of various trades.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a management team.
  • Strong communication, team building, and conflict resolution skills.
