REDS Athletics
The University of New Brunswick REDS are the non-academic unit within the Faculty of Kinesiology. Through athletics and recreation programming, they strive to be national leaders in wellness, sport, and recreation excellence. The REDS also lead many internal and external general events across various facilities in hopes of being engaged within our community.
WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time | 5-Year Term | Fredericton | On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Shift Work | Variable Hours | 36.25 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- This position involves working many evenings and weekends and a significant amount of travel.
Salary with be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Women's Volleyball Coach is responsible for providing all coaching duties consistent with the operations of a successful inter-university sports program.
- Manage the women's volleyball program, including athletes, trainers, managers, and assistant coaches.
- Prepare daily and weekly practices and competition strategies.
- Advise student-athletes as well as monitor athletic performance. Arrange individual athlete meetings to analyze performance and to set and help achieve goals.
- Prepare and coordinate all in-season training with the Mental Skills Coach, High-Performance Centre staff with IST practicum students and on-court small group workouts with Assistant Coaches.
- Prepare and manage team budget, including decisions on Athletics Financial Awards.
- Develop and execute a strategy for recruiting elite student-athletes to the REDS women's volleyball program.
- Organize and coordinate one or two fundraising initiatives each year.
- Organize and coordinate all exhibition competitions each year.
- Prepare a year-end report of the women's volleyball program and establish new goals for the new season.
- Prepare and monitor off-season training programs.
- Support and provide leadership to community clubs and provincial volleyball programs.
- Serve as Head Coach of the UNB Women's Volleyball Summer Sports Camps.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with UNB Women's Volleyball Alumni.
- Attend monthly REDS Athletics departmental meetings and other professional development meetings throughout the year.
- Develop a complete understanding of U SPORTS Athletic Financial Awards, eligibility, and recruiting policies.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A University Degree in a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of coaching volleyball and administering elite-level athletes and programs.
- Working towards or completion of the NCCP "Comp Dev" Coach Education Program (Volleyball Canada High Performance 1) and Making Ethical Decisions (MED).
- Experience coaching female volleyball players.
Additional Strengths
- Experience playing and/or being involved within a high-performance environment is considered an asset.
- Commitment to meet the UNB REDS Safe Sport & Responsible Coaching Movement requirements for ChPC (Chartered Professional Coach) designation.
- Ability to work within the university environment and with the public at large is essential.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
