The Sales Manager, Group Insurance will reports to the Director, Group Solutions and Networks and is a key role in the Group Insurance business line. This person is responsible for developing and promoting sales through prospecting, presentations and renewals. This person is responsible for meeting quarterly and annual Group Insurance targets for sales, retention, marketing allocation and profitability for their respective territory. This person must participate in feedback and share ideas on group insurance product development and when necessary must also act as a trainer and offer support to group insurance sales.


This position works closely with the sales support agents as well as in close collaboration with the director in certain important files (renewal presentations, statistical analysis) in order to ensure the achievement of objectives by offering support to other team members.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Market development and sales of group insurance through prospecting and sales presentations of our products or services in the field to clients, agents, brokers and consultants.

  • Follow up on clarifications and/or negotiations with agents, brokers, consultants and clients, quote and renewal files to achieve sales or retain our existing groups.

  • Negotiate with head office group insurance underwriters to present quotes and renewal offers while respecting the pricing required for the profitability of the business line.

  • Use of a CRM tool and input of relevant information to help team members achieve their objectives

  • Work closely with internal teams to develop contractual clauses specifically to business development.

  • Conducting regular and targeted face-to-face meetings with our Distribution Partner, to gain an in-depth understanding of their unique business needs in order to advise on business strategies, sales concepts and revenue generating ideas, and to promote the features and benefits of Assumption's Life insurance products.

  • Represent the Assumption's Life brand with strategic account management to drive sales and ensure retention of existing business in the insurance market.

  • Driving and influencing sales decisions and retention in the insurance market to achieve defined sales targets; proactively seeking opportunities to initiate and build new relationships in untapped markets and gain access to branches and decision makers.

  • Applying strategic territory and account management principles to build a comprehensive annual business plan in collaboration with Senior Management and the sales team to achieve sales objectives, and execute business plan, monitoring activity and reassessing regularly.

  • Provide input into internal business strategy and planning.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in business administration or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the sale of group insurance products.

  • Experience in selling financial products

  • Knowledge and experience in market segmentation and data analysis

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, tactful and diplomatic skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Leadership, organizational and analytical skills

  • Mobility: local and provincial travel

  • Customer service oriented
