Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Research (AVPR), this position works in a highly confidential, fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. The Research Grants Coordinator provides advice to faculty on, and assistance with, all aspects of the coordination and development of external research grants, for submission to funding agencies and granting councils to support regional, national, and international research. This includes exploring relevant sources of funding, communicating with funding agencies and research councils, reviewing and editing proposal drafts, reviewing and coordinating budgets and letters of support, facilitating grant submissions, and preparing administrative reports. The Research Grants Coordinator also serves in an advisory role on all Research Office communications, events, and workshops.

The Grants Coordinator serves as an internal grants liaison to the Committee on Research and Publications (CRP). This includes creation and maintenance of all CRP documents. The Grants Coordinator has responsibility for reporting and communicating to external funders, to the AVPR for Senate, CRP, and research policy reporting, for tracking information on pre- and post-award activities. This role involves working closely with administrative and technical personnel, researchers, faculty members, partner institutions, and funding agencies.

The ideal candidate must have completed at minimum, a Master's degree with a research component and one year of related experience in research administration, project management, or another related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience with Tri-Agency (SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR) and Tri-Agency Institutional Programs Secretariat (TIPS) grants is preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated project management skills, time management, communications, and the ability to multi-task and maintain professional composure in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must have the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with both diverse individuals and organizations and will have demonstrated commitment or lived experience to Truth and Reconciliation as well as Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA). Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.
