About Career Link Atlantic

Career Link Atlantic is a not-for-profit organization based in Saint John, New Brunswick. The organization works with industry, government, schools, youth, and other stakeholders to develop and deliver initiatives that provide solutions to workforce challenges in our region.

The New Brunswick Teen Apprentice Program (NBTAP) is Career Link Atlantic's core program. NBTAP is an industry-led, pre-apprentice program for qualifying students starting in grade 10 or 11. NBTAP facilitates the early connection between industries facing a potential skilled trades labour gap and young New Brunswickers giving high school students a head start on an exciting career in the skilled trades here at home.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager is primarily responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of Career Link Atlantic's core program, NBTAP. This will involve establishing new ways of delivering the program, developing new processes, and assisting the organization as it is positioned for growth and long-term sustainability.

Salary starts at $60,000 per year plus other benefits.

It is expected that the Program Manager will have a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken French and English as the program is delivered in both official languages across the Province.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

This role has several core areas of responsibility:

  • Direct Program Delivery: The incumbent is responsible for the development and execution of all program plans and activities. Key activities include, leading the development of pre-apprentice opportunities with employers in the province; managing the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of student apprentices; overseeing the delivery of positive and meaningful on-the-job learning experiences; liaising with program stakeholders; analyzing program data; producing reports; managing the program budget; and monitoring program quality.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Stakeholders will be engaged through a range of innovative techniques intended to build the NBTAP brand, promote sustainable program growth over time, and attract new NBTAP employers, students, and partners. The incumbent will play a key role in the development and execution of stakeholder engagement strategies and overseeing the design and development of online and offline communications.
  • Support for Sponsorship and Development: The incumbent will assist the Executive Director in producing program data, producing reports, and developing proposals intended to generate new funding and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Active Team Leadership: The incumbent will lead a small team and will also have hands-on program delivery responsibilities.
  • Other Activities: The incumbent will also support the Executive Director with respect to long-term planning, program budgeting, program evaluation, growth opportunities, and other activities as assigned.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Required:

  • A university degree, diploma or relevant program delivery experience (5 to 8 years experience preferred)
  • High level of proficiency in both written and spoken English and French - bilingualism is essential for this role
  • Previous team leadership experience
  • Strong sales, marketing, presentation and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated success in setting program goals, coordinating a range of program activities, and achieving target outcomes
  • Understanding of social media marketing and communications techniques
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing requests
  • Flexibility, integrity, credibility, attention to detail, and dedication
  • Occasional travel throughout the province

Desirable:

  • Understanding of apprenticeship and skilled trades in New Brunswick, our changing demographics and labour market needs
  • Demonstrated marketing experience working with external service providers
  • Experience using innovative social media techniques to attract and engage stakeholders
  • Proficiency in:
    • Stakeholder engagement
    • Strategy development
    • Data collection and analysis
    • Program evaluation
    • Proposal writing
    • Financial management and reporting
    • Change management
