MacKinnon and Olding (M&O), a Crosbie Group Limited member company, is currently seeking an On-site HSEQ Coordinator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. M&O offers a suite of marine and industrial solutions for its clients and provides access to cutting edge innovations through the company's network of global technology partners. M&O's core business includes scaffolding, surface preparation, painting/coatings, insulation and flooring; with more than 30 years' experience, M&O is the leading marine contractor on the east coast of Canada.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, the On-site HSEQ Coordinator is responsible for the active promotion and delivery of all aspects of Mackinnon and Olding (M&O) and client HSEQ programs as well as, provision of on-site HSEQ support to both the M&O and client project management team(s), ensuring compliance with legislative and corporate requirements. Our preferred candidate would demonstrate health, safety, environment and quality leadership, supporting the development of a "Safety First" culture and mindset across all operations and assigned client sites.

Daily the On-site Coordinator would proactively engage with on-site staff, project leadership and client personnel by attending meetings, soliciting input and sharing best practice to ensure on-site and operational HSEQ needs are met. S/he would facilitate all on-site health and safety related activities including, but not limited to risk assessments, job site analysis, accident/incident investigations, audits, site inspections, onsite training etc... In addition, s/he would be responsible to support the data collection and monitoring of on-site HSEQ performance and program implementation. S/he would also support monitoring the effectiveness of actions taken and to work with the M&O HSEQ team to identify opportunities for improvement and devise appropriate action plans.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment and to resolve issues and conflict. S/he must have demonstrated HSEQ leadership capabilities, understanding and applying HSEQ principles and programs while educating, persuading and influencing team members to engage in a proactive organizational culture of HSEQ.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in Occupational Health, Safety, Quality or a related field, accompanied with 5+ years on-site safety and quality experience in an industrial or marine environment. A CRSP designation and training in Taproot (or similar Root Cause Analysis training).
