NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Community College Instructor. Our College is committed to transforming lives and communities.

This is a one-year term position to June 2019, with the possibility of extension or becoming regular.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses in the Health and Social Sciences program may include, but not be limited to: Canadian Criminal Justice System, Youth Care Practices, Secure Placements, Residential Placements, Child Abuse and Treatment, Activity Programming, Behaviour Modification, Writing & Documentation Skills, Counselling Skills, Psychology, Sociology, Deviance, Victimology, Interpersonal Behaviour, as well as other related courses. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate innovative teaching technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices, and support Social Sciences applied research activities.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a certificate in child and youth care, social sciences or a related program area, with a minimum of six (6) years of recent and related experience; OR a two-year diploma in child and youth care, social sciences or a related program area, with a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience; OR a degree in child and youth care, social sciences or a related program area, with a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related experience. Related experience would include working in child and youth care, social sciences, or other related industry. A comprehensive knowledge of MS Office Suite is required. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,973 to $2,780 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,036 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education - Instructional Group) for the College.
