What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Digital Media, the Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and coordinating graphic design needs for NBCC’s internal and external clients, from conceptualization to implementation, of web, social and print design solutions. This role assists in providing art direction, and advising and consulting with the marketing team to support the strategic objectives of the College.

Key responsibilities will include liaising with internal clients to identify and deliver on graphic design needs; working collaboratively with the marketing team to develop design concepts to suit client needs; assisting with art direction and design for both print and online media; providing graphic design for various types of projects such as brand identity, brand visual strategies, collateral for advertising, etc., that includes compelling design, layout, formatting, typography, photography, illustrative and graphic elements; ensuring design integrity and consistency throughout all communications; providing motion graphic design and design elements specific to digital media; attending meetings and collaborating with members of other departments in an effort to elevate the NBCC brand; and coordinating work on varied projects ranging in complexity and duration; as well as other related duties.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a diploma in graphic design or related discipline and three (3) years of recent and related professional experience; OR a degree in graphic design or related discipline with one (1) year of recent and related professional experience. Related professional experience must include coordinating work on multiple and varied design projects; providing input on art direction and concept design in a collaborative creative team environment; and working directly with clients to meet design needs in various media forms. Your expertise must include working with Adobe Creative Suite and other design software applications and tools, working on the Apple/Mac system and platform; working with image optimization and photo retouching; and proficiency in typography. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Candidates are required to submit samples of their work that demonstrates related work experience as part of their application.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates with related experience in a post-secondary environment, and experience in photography.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $40,170 – $56,082.
